SleepWay
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 27, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SleepWay ("SleepWay", "the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Android application SleepWay.
SleepWay is operated by an individual developer under the Areyana Inc. brand. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or a privacy request, contact us at areyanainc@gmail.com.
1. Age
SleepWay is not directed to children under 13 years old, or to children under the minimum digital consent age required in their country. If you are under that age, do not use the App without appropriate parental or legal guardian involvement. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
2. What SleepWay Does
SleepWay provides sleep sounds, timers, meditation and breathing exercises, optional sleep tracking, sleep goals, and statistics intended to support relaxation and general wellbeing. Sleep estimates and insights are informational only. SleepWay is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
3. Information We Collect or Process
SleepWay does not require or create a user account. Most user-facing information is kept locally on your device. The App may process the following categories of information:
- App settings and preferences: language, theme, status bar preferences, onboarding state, sound and timer choices, notification preferences, and similar configuration.
- Sleep entries and goals: dates, bedtime and wake time, sleep duration, sleep quality, mood, optional notes you enter, entry source, creation time, target sleep duration, target bedtime, target wake time, derived sleep phases and their confidence, and locally detected sleep-related sound event details such as type, time, duration, amplitude, and intensity.
- Optional microphone processing: after you grant microphone permission and deliberately start sleep tracking, the App processes microphone samples on your device to estimate sound level, sleep phases, and possible sleep-related sound events. Raw audio is held only temporarily in memory for on-device analysis. SleepWay does not create audio recording files from those samples and does not transmit the raw audio.
- Optional motion-sensor processing: during an active sleep-tracking session, the App reads accelerometer samples on your device to detect significant movement and improve its estimates of sleep phases. Raw accelerometer samples are used only for active on-device analysis and are not retained as a movement recording or transmitted by SleepWay. Derived sleep-phase information may be saved as part of the local sleep entry.
- Import, export, and sharing data: SleepWay reads a CSV file only after you deliberately select it through Android's system document picker. Import processing occurs locally. When you export sleep data as CSV or PDF, the App creates a temporary file in its cache and shares it only with the application or recipient you select through Android's system share interface.
- Meditation and breathing progress: completed sessions, duration, streaks, weekly goals and progress, last-session information, and locally calculated quality or progress statistics.
- App activity and telemetry: app launches, screen and navigation context, notification display or open events, ad events, purchase or entitlement state events, rating prompt events, maintenance status, and sleep-tracking lifecycle events such as whether tracking started, whether a meaningful night was completed, whether the resulting briefing was opened, and whether the entry source was manual, microphone, or imported. These events are associated with pseudonymous Firebase app-instance or installation context and are used to provide and personalize App functionality. We do not intentionally send exact sleep dates or times, sleep duration, sleep score, subjective sleep rating, sleep notes, goal values, exported file contents, raw microphone audio, or raw accelerometer samples to analytics.
- Crash, diagnostic, and performance data: crash reports, stack traces, logs, performance traces, device and operating system information, app version, and other technical diagnostics.
- Notifications data: a Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token, notification topic subscriptions, notification preferences, delivery information, and notification payload data needed to deliver or open notifications. After a valid runtime policy is available, the App may register its installation with Firebase Cloud Messaging even if Android notification permission is not granted. Topic subscriptions and notification display depend on the effective Android notification permission and settings.
- Advertising and consent data: advertising identifiers, App Set ID and other device or app identifiers, IP address and general location inferred from it, ad interactions, impression data, advertising diagnostics, consent choices, privacy choices, and related signals may be processed by Google AdMob, Google Mobile Ads SDK, and Google User Messaging Platform if advertising is enabled.
- Purchase and subscription state: Google Play Billing may process purchase or subscription information. The App stores local entitlement state, such as whether ads have been removed. Payment card details are processed by Google Play, not by us.
- Technical service data: IP address, Firebase installation or app instance identifiers, App Check signals, request time, device/app version information, and similar data may be processed when the App communicates with Google and Firebase services.
- Direct communications: if you email us, we process your email address and message content so that we can respond and maintain necessary records of the request.
Android system backup may back up some local App preferences depending on your device, Android version, and Google account backup settings.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide sleep sounds, timers, meditation, breathing, and sleep tracking features;
- store your preferences, sleep entries, sleep goals, and progress locally;
- perform optional microphone and accelerometer analysis on your device during sleep tracking;
- import a CSV file you select and create CSV or PDF exports you choose to share;
- personalize App functionality, sleep insights, content, and recommendations;
- send or display notifications you enable;
- show, limit, personalize, or measure ads where permitted and enabled;
- manage consent and privacy choices;
- process ad-removal purchases or subscriptions through Google Play;
- provide remote configuration and service-status information;
- improve reliability, performance, safety, and usability;
- detect errors, crashes, abuse, and technical issues;
- respond to direct support or privacy emails; and
- comply with legal, security, and platform requirements.
Depending on the processing and applicable law, we process information to provide the App features you request, to comply with legal obligations, and with consent where applicable. For telemetry and related technical service processing, including Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Performance Monitoring, Remote Config, App Check, and Firebase Cloud Messaging registration, we rely on our legitimate interests in providing, maintaining, protecting, personalizing, and improving SleepWay. This telemetry is not separately optional in the App and is enabled only when the App receives a valid runtime policy that permits it.
We limit telemetry to the categories and fixed events described in this Policy so that it does not include raw microphone audio, raw accelerometer samples, free-form sleep notes, exported file contents, or exact sleep measurements. We consider this minimization necessary to balance our legitimate interests with the privacy rights of SleepWay users.
5. Third-Party Services
SleepWay uses or may use the following third-party services. These providers may process information under their own terms and privacy policies:
- Google services, including Google Play services, Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase Remote Config, Firebase Performance Monitoring, Firebase App Check with Play Integrity, Google Play Billing, Google AdMob, Google Mobile Ads SDK, and Google User Messaging Platform.
- External websites opened from the App, including sleep and wellbeing articles, Google Play pages, and other browser destinations you choose to open.
Useful third-party privacy links:
6. Advertising, Consent, and Privacy Choices
SleepWay may show ads through Google AdMob depending on the App build and current remote configuration. Ad formats may include banner, native, interstitial, app open, and rewarded ads.
Where required, SleepWay uses Google User Messaging Platform to show consent or privacy messages configured through AdMob Privacy & messaging. Depending on your region, choices, device settings, and Google/AdMob configuration, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
You can manage advertising preferences through Android and Google settings, Google's ad settings, and any privacy choices shown in the App. Some advertising data transfers may be considered "sale", "sharing", or "targeted advertising" under certain US state privacy laws. We do not sell personal information for money.
7. Microphone, Motion Sensor, and Sleep Data
Microphone access is optional and is used only after you grant Android permission and start sleep tracking. During an active session, raw microphone samples and temporary analysis signals remain on the device. They are not uploaded by SleepWay and are discarded when they are no longer needed for the active analysis. No raw audio recording file is retained.
During the same active session, accelerometer samples are processed on the device to detect significant movement and improve sleep-phase estimates. Raw accelerometer samples are not retained as a movement recording and are not uploaded by SleepWay.
A derived sleep entry, such as the date, bedtime, wake time, duration, quality, mood, notes, sleep-phase timeline and confidence, and detected sound-event details, may be saved locally. You can delete individual sleep entries inside the App, revoke microphone permission in Android settings, or clear all local App data as described on the Data Deletion page.
8. Notifications
After a valid runtime policy is available, SleepWay may register the App installation with Firebase Cloud Messaging so that notification delivery can be supported. This registration may occur even if Android notification permission is not granted. SleepWay subscribes to notification topics and displays Firebase Cloud Messaging or local Android notifications for sleep reminders, meditation reminders, product information, or general service messages only when allowed by the effective Android notification permission and settings. You can disable notification display in the App or in Android system settings.
9. Local Storage and Retention
Most user-facing SleepWay data is stored locally on your Android device. Retention varies by data type:
- sleep entries, sleep goals, settings, meditation and breathing progress, and local App state remain until you delete the relevant entry, clear App data, or uninstall SleepWay;
- raw microphone samples and temporary audio-analysis signals are kept only in memory while needed for an active sleep tracking session and are not retained as audio files;
- raw accelerometer samples are used only during active on-device sleep analysis and are not retained as a movement recording;
- a CSV file selected for import is read locally for the import operation, while temporary CSV or PDF export files may remain in the App cache until removed by SleepWay, Android, clearing App data, or uninstalling the App;
- temporary caches remain only as long as needed for App operation and may be removed by the App or Android;
- under the unchanged standard Google Analytics retention setting used for SleepWay, user-level and event-level Analytics data is retained for 2 months; this setting does not limit standard aggregated Analytics reports;
- Firebase Crashlytics retains crash traces and associated identifiers for 90 days before beginning removal from live and backup systems;
- Firebase Performance Monitoring retains IP-associated events for 30 days and installation-associated or de-identified performance data for 60 days before beginning removal from live and backup systems;
- Firebase installation identifiers used by Cloud Messaging and Remote Config are retained until a deletion request is made to Firebase, after which removal from live and backup systems may take up to 180 days. An inactive Android FCM registration expires after 270 days, and an undelivered FCM message may be stored for up to 28 days;
- AdMob User Activity report data is retained for 90 days, while Ads Activity, Cohort, and Privacy & messaging report data may be retained for 2,555 days. Google may retain limited advertising information for longer where needed for security, fraud prevention, financial records, or legal obligations;
- other Firebase, Google, AdMob, and Google Play data is retained according to the applicable provider policy and service settings; and
- direct support or privacy emails are kept only as long as reasonably needed to handle the request, maintain necessary records, and meet legal obligations.
Android backup may retain or restore some App preferences according to your Android and Google account backup settings.
10. Data Sharing
We share information only as needed to operate SleepWay, use the service providers listed above, process purchases, deliver notifications, provide and personalize App functionality or diagnostics, comply with law, protect rights and security, or act with your consent where required.
This may include transfers to Google, Firebase, AdMob, Google Play, and external websites you choose to open. We do not sell personal information for money.
When you deliberately share a CSV or PDF export, the exported sleep data is transferred to the application or recipient you select. Copies retained by that recipient, another application, or external storage are outside SleepWay's control.
11. Data We Do Not Intentionally Collect
SleepWay does not ask for or intentionally collect:
- SleepWay account credentials, because the App does not create user accounts;
- your profile name, phone number, or postal address;
- address book contacts, messages, or call logs;
- precise GPS location;
- camera images, gallery photos, videos, or documents other than a CSV file you deliberately select for import through Android's system document picker;
- saved or uploaded microphone recordings; or
- payment card details.
If you email us, your email address and the information you choose to include in the message are processed as described above. Avoid placing unnecessary sensitive information in free-text sleep notes or emails.
SleepWay does not scan your gallery or general file storage. It reads only the CSV file you deliberately select for import.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. Raw microphone and accelerometer analysis is performed on the device, and release builds use Firebase App Check with Play Integrity to help verify legitimate App traffic to supported Firebase services. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
13. International Processing
Google and other third-party providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence. Their processing is governed by their terms, privacy policies, and applicable transfer mechanisms. Where required, those mechanisms may include an adequacy decision, Standard Contractual Clauses, or another lawful transfer mechanism made available by the relevant provider.
14. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or an opt-out from certain processing.
You can:
- change SleepWay settings inside the App;
- delete individual sleep entries inside the App;
- revoke microphone permission in Android settings;
- disable notifications in SleepWay or Android settings;
- manage ad consent and privacy choices where shown;
- manage Google advertising settings or reset/delete the advertising identifier where available;
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests by contacting us;
- delete copies of exported data from the recipient application or storage location you selected;
- clear local App data or uninstall SleepWay; and
- email us about data reasonably under our control.
You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority responsible for your location. A request or objection does not automatically require us to stop processing where applicable law permits compelling legitimate grounds, legal claims, or another lawful reason to continue.
15. Data Deletion
SleepWay has no user accounts. Most SleepWay data can be deleted directly on your device by deleting individual sleep entries, clearing App storage, or uninstalling the App. See the SleepWay Data Deletion Instructions for detailed steps.
To request deletion of information reasonably under our control, email areyanainc@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request - SleepWay". Information held by Google or another provider may also need to be managed through that provider's privacy tools and policies when it cannot reasonably be identified or deleted by us.
Clearing SleepWay data or uninstalling the App removes temporary export files still held in the App's own cache, but it does not delete CSV or PDF copies already shared with another application, recipient, or external storage location. You must delete those copies from their destination.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when SleepWay, its service providers, or legal requirements change. The current version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
